All the developments over civilisations,countries and regions have a common trend and are cyclic in nature. Be it culture, music,art or literature. In nutshell , you can also see that essence of them remain same ,only form changes. I stick here to literature.
Hindi literature is some 100 years behind english literature. ‘Chhayavad’ comes here in 1920s , while Romanticism was there in 1800 to 1850 in europe. I am not a historian of literature and not that great scholar also,but its my observation only, which i am putting forward.
Hindi literature is digging deep into finding pearls in human relations, making them more dramatic, more intense and some times complex too. But it has limited its subject dealing and canvas . I find english literature is dealing more with the mind than heart. It is excelling in giving legal , detective,investigative, historical,science and technology oriented gripping fictions. It is same in their films too. I am sure no hindi writer has such thing on mind to write and if he writes then he may not only be ignored , but he would be reprimanded. A writer gets better, if it’s readers get better and vice -versa. It’s a slow changing process. I believe some of us writers will take up the challenge and change menu and taste of readers. Science oriented movies in hindi are already doing well. Lets see.
